About Sunni D Sanctuary

Sunni D Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal rescue in Alabama, created to give forgotten dogs and cats a second chance. We focus on the ones who need us most—owner surrenders, strays, and shelter animals at risk of being euthanized. Whether they need time to heal, a foster home, or a permanent one, we’re here to make sure they don’t face that journey alone.

We provide:

• Rescue services for high-risk dogs and cats.
• Foster care for animals needing safe, temporary homes.
• Adoption placement with thorough screening.
• Community support to help keep pets with their people.

But this sanctuary isn’t just about the animals we save—it’s also about the one we lost.

Sunni D was my beagle. I raised him from birth and named him Sunni because he was my sunshine. One weekend, I went out of town and left him with a trusted caretaker. Unfortunately, he slipped his leash, was hit by a car, and died. He never got the full life he deserved—the long walks, the years of memories, the safety of growing old at home.

This rescue is for him.

For the walks we didn’t get to take.

For the memories we didn’t get to make.

And for all the animals who still deserve a chance to be someone’s sunshine.
